Rabbit & Bear Studios, the developer behind the upcoming Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, has confirmed that it is “moving on” with the sequel following the death of the franchise’s creator earlier this year (thanks, VGC).
Yoshitaka Murayama, who also created Suicoden franchise, sadly passed away after complications from an illness. In a Reddit AMA session, Rabbit & Bear Studios confirmed that they hope to “carry on Murayama’s legacy” while directly confirming that a sequel is in the works.
Q – What’s next for Rabbit & Bear? With Murayama-san’s unfortunate death, are plans for a potential Eiyuden Chronicle sequel up in the air (provided sales are well above or within expectations)?
A – Absolutely! Let’s move on with the sequel. It is very sad that Murayama is no longer with us, but we talked about many things with him. I hope we can continue Murayama’s legacy and I always want to cherish his last work. I hope a lot of people will support this game.
When asked later if the team could share any memories of Murayama, they replied, “No matter how bad Murayama’s mood or health was, he was always happy and smiling whenever he saw the joy and excitement of his fans. I know he was loved by all of you.” .
Unfortunately, Murayama’s death means he won’t be around to see the launch of Hundred Heroes on Switch, which comes out on April 23, 2024.
