We were all treated to a short batch of new footage from the long-awaited The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 and it was pointed out that the visuals were perhaps a little too good for the standard Nintendo Switch system suggesting that the footage might have come from an enhanced Switch such as the long-rumoured Nintendo Switch Pro. Digital Foundry has recently published a video talking about various happenings in the industry and the team clearly state that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will run on the current Nintendo Switch system. Ho wever, they are of the opinion that it will perhaps be a cross-gen game for whatever Nintendo is planning on the hardware front and their current models.
Others believe we said that the game wouldn’t be coming out at all for Switch, when that’s obviously not true – it’s been announced! These stories derive from our Breath of the Wild 2 discussion back in DF Direct Weekly #55. Ultimately, our point is simply this: the new footage showed fidelity and effects that are significantly beyond what we’ve seen from any title on Switch seen thus far, even those from Nintendo first party studios. Maybe it will be a cross-gen Nintendo game similar to the original? We’ll just have to wait and see.
