This is an image from a coloring book officially licensed 1989, which features an unusual representation of objects in Mario’s world. Instead of being represented as inanimate or neutral objects, the Super Mushroom appears scared at the possibility of being consumed by Mario. It is one of the few official images that shows this question… Should we question the act of “consuming” power-ups in Mario games, or simply accept them as part of the game without moral questioning?
