Dragon series producer Yuji Horii shared a New Year's message with fans earlier today. In it, Horii revealed that the next major Dragon Quest series, Dragon Quest XII, has been built since 2019. It's been 33 years since the first game was released, and 2 years since Dragon Seeking XI: Origins of Variety Years was introduced on Playstation 4 and Nintendo 3DS. Horii also said "I don't know how long I can go, but I feel like I want to do something a little better". You can see Horii's message in full below.
“Last year we started with the release of the movie Dragon Quest: Your Story, and then released the DVD version of Dragon Quest 11, the DQ Walk software, the announcement of The Adventure of Dai anime and its sequel, the production of (DQ) 12 and more; even though 33 years have passed since I made my first game, I am so glad I can create new challenges like this. A big thank you to all the users who have received the applause at Dragon Quest so far, and to all the many staff members who supported me. I don't know how long I can go on, but I feel like I want to do my best just a little bit. I hope this year will be an amazing year for everyone. I look forward to working together this year. ”
