We have been following Evercade's progress with interest over the past year, and today the news has broken that the 12th edition of the program's confirmed cart will be a two pack that includes Status of Xeno and Tanglewood, two modern titles designed with Sega & # 39; s Classic Mega Drware in mind.
The Xeno Crisis, as you may know, was developed on the Sega console by the Bitmap Bureau but has also been released on modern platforms, including Sturn. Tanglewood was also upgraded within the Mega Drive limits, and received a physical release from the program a long time ago.
Double packaging will be launched on the same day as a cart with dozens of Atari Lynx titles; the exact date should be confirmed but is expected to be in Q3 2020.
Here is what Bitmap Bureau technical director Matt Cope said about the announcement:
We are so excited to have the opportunity to bring the Xeno Crisis to the ever-beautiful handcade, which is a tool we've been monitoring since we first heard about it. Having tested Xeno Crisis on Evercade we were impressed not only with the build quality, but also with the level of imitation, and it is probably the best way to play the Mega Drive version in a portable way. Evercade's team is interesting as we have retro games, and we hope this reunion has been a long time together.
Evercade is expected to launch on March 20. You can pre-order here.
