Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa informed the investors that the Kyoto-based company believes that it will be very difficult to maintain the sales momentum of the Nintendo Switch as the video game system enters its seventh year on the market. Sales of the Nintendo Switch family of consoles are slowing faster than the company initially expected, and there are currently no plans to launch a successor anytime soon. Mr. Furukawa admits that the company’s goal of selling 15 million units this fiscal year is a bit of a stretch and that the 2022 holiday season was disappointing for the company. Nintendo is expected to announce a successor to the Nintendo Switch for at least another year.
