Following in the footsteps of other major sporting events such as E3 2020 and GDC, Gamescom 2020 has now been officially canceled.
In a statement released online, event organizers said the event "will never happen under the site" this year as the ongoing coronavirus epidemic is still a serious threat. Instead, the internet of digital games is currently in the works hoping to celebrate the biggest games of the year in a new way. Here is the complete statement:
