Gamescom starts tomorrow, where many video game companies will have upcoming releases available to play at the show. However, one company that has had a history of having very little, if any, presence at the event is Nintendo. This year is no exception, and the company announced back in April that there would be none.

Unfortunately, it won’t be just Nintendo. You see, when Gamescom organizers revealed this year’s award nominees, the “Best Nintendo Switch Game” category wasn’t there. TheGamer asked the organizers what happened, and the answer they got was that “there were too few entries for the Best Nintendo Switch category this year. The Allotment Committee therefore decided to cancel the category”. So, there will be no award for the best Nintendo Switch game at this year’s Gamescom.
