The creator of The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley, recently held a question and answer session through Reddit, in which fans of the event did not miss the opportunity to talk about Nintendo.
Keighley talked about his initial conversations with Nintendo managers, even before the awards ceremony was formed; and has stated that the support received by them was essential to found the The Game Awards.
You can find his words below:
Reggie is always invited. He has been a great defender of the TGA since day one. In the summer of 2014 I called him with my idea. I was in Hawaii at that time and had just finished a deep water dive. I remember talking to him about the concept for an hour and he supported me a lot. In many ways, we wouldn't have TGA without Reggie's support, as well as the late Iwata-san. In fact, one of the last things Iwata-san told me was that Nintendo would always make sure to support TGAs. It meant so much to me.
