Just a few minutes ago, we shared with you the first video preview of the mysterious Project G.G. from Platinum Games. Now we get more news about this game, which is expected to be released on all current consoles.
This is a message shared by the title director, Hideki Kamiya. In it, it highlights how this Project G.G. It is a 100% Platinum Games project and how they will organize to develop it. We leave you with your statements:
Hi everyone. Here the chief designer of Platinum Games games, Hideki Kamiya.
It is an honor for me today, finally, to announce a completely new and original Platinum Games project. In the fourteen years since we founded this company, we have worked to achieve the dream of creating and launching a game based on an intellectual property of Platinum. Now we are finally moving towards that starting line.
What makes this new title different from what we have done before? Let me explain a bit, because I am sure you will agree that this is a giant step for Platinum Games!
We have created a wide variety of games throughout our history, sometimes based on existing properties, such as NieR: Automata; sometimes completely original stories, like Bayonetta and Astral Chain. Our work has found a core of passionate fans who trust us to offer high quality action games.
But Platinum Games so far has only been a developer. That means we make the games and that's it. All our titles so far have been made under contracts, with cooperation and financing from the publishers that distribute them.
Of course, everyone in Platinum and I are extremely grateful for the relationship we have made with all of you through the games we have created so far. But in the end all those games belong to publishers. Each and every one of the decisions about how those games are promoted, how their content is used, etc., are entirely from the publisher.
As a creator, it's hard not to think of my games as my children. After all, it takes a lot of hard work to raise them and also a lot of love. However, once they finish, any choice about them is completely out of my reach. So, for example, no matter how many times people tell me: "You should make a sequel to this game" or "I would love to see it on that console," there is nothing I can do about it.
Which brings us to Project GG (provisional name, by the way). This project is different. Unlike any of the games we have done so far, it will be a 100% Platinum Games title. For everything from its surroundings and characters, to the game design and history, to how it is promoted, Platinum Games has full control.
Of course, that also has its disadvantages. We will assume new risks that we have never assumed before as contracted developers. Having total control over this IP gives us a lot of freedom, but also a lot of responsibility. Still, I think we can take advantage of that sense of responsibility and turn it into motivation to make Project GG the best possible game.
As I said before, with this project, we are moving towards a new starting line. The finish line is still far away. But I know I'm anxious to run the race! I hope you encourage us.
And if you want to join us in Platinum when we start with this new effort, I really hope you take a look at our jobs page and see if there is a suitable position for you.
On behalf of the Project GG team and everyone at Platinum Games, thank you for your support!
