About a month ago, we had the pleasure of playing a development version for the latest from Massive Monster and Devolver Digital: Cult of the Lamb. This week it finally goes on sale, so we take the opportunity to share it with you our impressions about the one that has been seeming to us one of the best indie games of the year. Attentive, because the thing promises a lot!
Creating a cult to our measure
Putting ourselves in the skin of a lamb that was about to be sacrificed, we will have to build our own cult to seek revenge, and things will not be easy! The first thing that strikes you about Cult of the Lamb is that it mixes a series of ingredients that make it a very diverse game: it is about a roguelike with city management elements. Thus, on the one hand we will be going through dungeons in which to defeat enemies, look for new acolytes and become stronger. On the other hand, we will find ourselves in our cult, managing its members, building new facilities and keeping the basics at baysuch as food, hygiene or the good condition of our facilities.
In addition to your main playable cyclethe game offers many other things with which to pass the time, such as the possibility of giving sermons, some other quite fun minigame or the personalization of our followers (which we can even name… although we recommend not getting too attached to them just in case).
Having a fair dose of challenge and a good learning curve with quite challenging bosses, Cult of the Lamb
Fighting fire with fire
The visual section of Cult of the Lamb is amazing. Despite its apparent tender and docile appearance, given its sectarian theme, the game has scenes of authentic terror that clash quite a bit with its aesthetics. This is precisely why we think it works so well. Their soundtrack
