Mario Kart Tour has revealed that Yoshi’s Island — a brand new course added to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in the Wave 4 Booster Course Pass — is coming to the mobile racing game. But something else caught people’s eye.
In the picture of the new track, just behind the pipe, a kart racer can barely be seen. Zoom in, however, and you’ll get a slightly better, if blurry, view of who it might be. And lo and behold, it’s Poochy driving a go-kart.
It’s understandable that fans are getting excited about this – many of the extras in Tour are often alternate costumes for characters. But Poochy would be brand new, and it would also be his Mario Kart debut. Joining Yoshi’s Island makes sense for the dog as he made his debut in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island.
Of course, there’s another side to this: if this really is a playable Poochy, will he be coming to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe? We already know that five more characters are being added through the Booster Course Pass and that Birdo was introduced with Wave 4 alongside Yoshi’s Island. Marry love see Poochy become playful.
The only thing we know about Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s empty slots is that they will be filled with “returning characters,” which likely means Nintendo will be digging through the Mario Kart archives. Does this mean that new characters have been added to the Tour? We will have to wait and see.
Do you think Poochy is barking his way to the Mario Kart Tour? Would you like to see him racing in MK8D? let us know.
