Disney Channelthe iconic children's and youth channel, will end its broadcasts in Europe next January 7, 2025after 27 years accompanying several generations. A piece of news that has come as a shock to viewers and those who grew up with this channel on television when they were children.
The decision is part of The Walt Disney Company's strategy to enhance its streaming Disney+. As confirmed by the company, all the content of the channel will be available on Disney+. So they will do without the television channel to focus on their subscription service.
The channel, debuted in 1998 as a paid service and became free on DTT in 2008, became a benchmark in children's entertainment. All its series and projects will theoretically serve streaming as we mentioned above. Not much more has been specified regarding this change, so we will have to take the change in policies as the main arguments for it.

Disney Channel marked historical milestones in audiences, such as November 19, 2016, when the broadcast of The Lion King reached a 4% share on prime time. Although in his later years the audience has been around 0.7%, several points below expectations. Which could also have led to his final goodbye in Europe.
