The Nintendo Switch may be on its way out soon, but that hasn’t stopped Nintendo’s hybrid console from surpassing sales milestones. It breaks records and is sold in large numbers all over the world. One of the biggest examples of this is Japan, where the Switch is very popular.
In fact, with the latest Japanese weekly game sales report from Media Create, another sales milestone has been reached. As of this week, the Nintendo Switch has sold 32,027,938 units in its lifetime. This means that the console has now surpassed 32 million units sold in Japan, making it the third best selling console in the country.
So what are the 2 consoles that are ahead of the Switch? Both are Nintendo handhelds. The Game Boy and Game Boy Color are #2 with a total of 32,470,000 units sold. At #1 is Nintendo DS with 32,990,000. It’s very possible, if not inevitable, that the Switch will surpass both by the end of the year
