Japan's Famitsu chart figures are now 30 December – 5 January, reflecting that. Pokémon Sword and Shield is in the first phase as we enter the new year.
Pokémon's latest entry has played a leading role since its launch in mid-November, with a weekly contest. The two titles have now surpassed the three million physical sales in the region, meaning they have now surpassed the ever-beating red. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Hardware sales seem to be unavailable at the moment, perhaps because these charts are delayed due to holidays. Hopefully, Famitsu's free sales data will resume in the next chart review.
Instead, we'll leave you with the fact that 26 of the top 30 games this week were on Nintendo Switch. As the PS4 begins to humble itself before the launch of the PS5 later this year, we think Switchch will continue to dominate the Japanese chart throughout 2020.
