As many of you will know, in the new series of The Witcher from Netflix, Joey batey will play the role of Jaskier, whom many know as Dandelion for videogames
In a recent interview with Comic book, Batey nuanced about the different between the history of books, video games and the series of Netflix
You can find your words then:
When I first played, I loved John Schwab's performance in the games. I think we are very different and I think that is very easy also because it has an American accent. Mine is British, and so, instantly we are different. We even have different names. So at no time did I feel, as if I were going to step on his toes. But regarding the costumes, I really loved them. I remember calling Lauren and talking about them, and the first thing that came out of his mouth was that I had neither codpieces nor stockings, and I thanked the Lord because I will not spend what could be the next seven years of my life wearing socks.
Again, it is still too early. In games, he is already much older. The games take place, obviously, after the book series. This is Jaskier's kind of origin story. This is the person he was before he became that authority. This is the type of rough clothing, and as elegant as it may be, it still gives you the impression that this guy can leave the window of a tavern by dropping a hat if necessary. That was something I really enjoyed, the fact that there was some ease. There was some elegance, but there was … he is still a person who sometimes ventures. For me it was the best of both worlds.
