You may recall that, earlier today, it was announced that the newest issue of Game Informer would feature an interview with Bayonetta 3 director Yusuke Miyata, and supervising director Hideki Kamiya. The digital version of the issue released today, and the interview contains an interesting bit of news.
Miyata revealed that Hellena Taylor, who voiced Bayonetta in the first 2 games and in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, will not be returning to voice Bayonetta in Bayonetta 3 due to “various overlapping circumstances”. The team held auditions to find a new voice actress, and the role was given to Jennifer Hale because the team felt that Hale was “a good match for the character”.
Hale has voiced many different characters over the past few decades, but in the world of Nintendo, she is most-known for voicing Samus Aran in the Metroid Prime games. Miyata says that Hale’s performance was “way beyond what we could have imagined. I’m confident that her portrayal of Bayonetta will exceed our fans’ expectations”.
