Publisher and developer Chibig has published release date for his adorable delivery sim, Mike and the Witch Mountain, via IGN. The game will launch on Switch (and Steam) on August 21, 2024, with o ther consoles to follow at a later date.
In the game, you play as Mika, an aspiring young witch who delivers packages to citizens on a small island. Mika will grow as a witch and a person, eventually climbing to the top of a huge mountain.
A cute and comfortable adventure will allow you to fly around the city on a small witch’s broom, dress Mika in various adorable outfits and discover secrets hidden around the island. The game was first unveiled in 2022, with Kickstarter surpassing its funding goal within two hours.
According to Kickstarter, the game is heavily inspired by Studio Ghibli — specifically Kiki’s Delivery Service, which follows a witch who runs a delivery service while living above a bakery. Other inspirations come from the wonderful A Short Hike and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, the latter of which helped influence the game’s art style.
Chibig previously worked on Deiland: Pocket Planet, a farming simulator set on a small planet; Summer in Mara, a sailing adventure; Ankora: The Lost Days, a survival adventure; and Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara, a 3D platformer. All of their games have a very cute aesthetic, but each one explores different angles of the enjoyable genre.
