Total Film spoke to Knuckles TV show host Toby Ascher about the upcoming series. Ascher informed the publication that he has exactly the same quality of animation in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which will hit theaters this December. He also said that it is greater than Sonic the Hedgehog 1 from a visual effects standpoint as there are 300 more shots in Knuckles than the first Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Knuckles will debut on Paramount Plus on April 26 in the US and April 27 in the UK.
“We shot it back-to-back with Sonic 3. It’s exactly the same animation quality,” Ascher, who is also a producer on Sonic the Hedgehog 3, tells GamesRadar+.
“It’s actually bigger than Sonic 1 from a VFX standpoint. We have 300 more shots in Knuckles than we did in Sonic 1. It’s a TV series, but it feels and plays like a big bonus movie.”
“If you like what we’re doing with this franchise, this shouldn’t be seen as an extra thing they did on the side, and the animation isn’t that good,” notes Ascher. “We tried really hard to make sure the animation quality in the show was as good as the movie.”
