Paste the magazine has released an informative interview with the executive producer of the Knuckles TV series, Toby Ascher, who talks a bit about the expansion of the Sonic Cinematic Universe. Speaking about the inclusion of other characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise appearing in t he upcoming Sonic 3, he said it led to an “Avengers-level event”. When it comes to the TV show Knuckles, Ascher concluded that “everything is wide open.”
“We’re really excited about the idea of expanding our characters in our world to television, especially because it gives us a platform to really explore the characters. We knew that with Shadow coming into Sonic 3 and some of the bigger things we wanted to do, the Sonic franchise on the movie side would be these Avengers-level events.”
“First and foremost, the goal of the series was: How do you replicate the quality of film in a much more condensed timeline? We knew that if, all of a sudden, this looked like a heist series or something that was really poorly put together, not only would the fans reject it, but it would damage what we’ve done.”
“If something works really well and we have a really great story to tell, we’ll definitely expand it. I don’t think there are any closed doors on future television, future seasons of Knuckles, so everything is wide open. I think it’s important for us not to just make things for the sake of making things.”
