After Shot posted earlier in the week, Nintendo has completely upped the LEGO Super Mario collaboration.
The new project is said to bring "a re-imagining of the LEGO design experience", where players are actually able to create their own customized Mario levels using LEGO blocks. Perhaps the most exciting part, however, is Mario himself, who can interact with LEGO's special pieces in unique ways.
As you can see in the video above, Mario can be changed to make sounds and show pictures about pieces around him. We hear the familiar sound of Warp Pipe as you enter the matching piece, and when Mario is standing in Goomba you see Mario getting the coin, and there is a direct result. It's sold as a live-action product between the game and the traditional LEGO set, as you can in the press release below:
Whether it's a video game or a traditional LEGO brick set, LEGO Super Mario is a brand new line item that produces a functional LEGO Mario image that collects coins at LEGO brick levels. The new line will make kids feel the playful world of Super Mario like never before. Super Mario will be made alive in the LEGO world of the world and new levels of challenge and gaming styles will be part of the LEGO experience enjoyed by generations.
Everything is light, colorful, and lovely as you would expect, too.
No specific release date is currently in effect, but more information is yet to be revealed and is scheduled to be launched later this year. Other stores – like GAME and Zavvi – we've already set up a notification to let you know when any products arrive.
