Brutal roguelite Have A Nice Death has received its first update on Switch, Gearbox Publishing SF has announced.
While there weren’t too many tweaks to make, this initial update seems to be mostly focused on reducing the game’s load times. Adjustments have also been made to certain bugs such as invisible attacks and glitches, and there are some minor changes to the design of some levels.
The update patch notes were shared by the publisher on their official site and you can find all the details below:
Have a nice Death Switch hotfix (updated on April 3, 2023)
IMPROVEMENTS
– Better handling of the end of loading between levels (less visible freezes) and less performance issues at the start of a level (used to have bad performance for a few seconds after the player spawns in some levels)
– Changed package organization (delete duplicate references) to reduce build size from 2go to 1.5go and reduce load times between levels (10% on average)
REPAIRS
– In Department of Inevitable Time, players could go to the last hidden boss when they shouldn’t.
– Players could not reconnect inputs the first time they plug in a new controller.
– Minor level design fixes in all worlds.
– Players could be blocked after the Game over screen if they die after restarting the run (with the pause menu).
– The game could crash during an arena fight with two Tempus (Department of Inevitable Time).
– Time boss’s invisible attack.
– Fixed problem with cursing “Iranians”
– The logos did not appear at the beginning of the match.
We noted some of Have a Nice Death’s earlier performance issues in our review, but we had a great time with the game regardless, stating that “brutal difficulty, creative themes, and satisfying combat all combine to make this an unforgettable and worthwhile experience.” Hopefully the update will start to fix some of these issues and improve the gaming experience in the process.
