Limited Run Games has announced a fiery new version of DOOM for the SNES as part of QuakeCon 2024.
The standard edition includes a retro box, instruction booklet, metallic cartridge and 12″ x 16″ poster, while the collector’s edition – limited to a demonic 666 copies – is planned to be packaged in an instruction book and standard edition poster, on top of a box of premium embossing foils, metallic colored carts with blood paint and metal plate decals and certificate of authenticity.
Set to raise hell in 2025, this retro edition will run on the original SNES hardware – but with a modern twist.
Some of the new features advertised by Limited Run Games include:
- All 4 DOOM episodes, including Thy Flesh Consumed
- Added circle-strafe
- Performance improvements
- The monster respawns at Nightmare difficulty
- Level codes
- Rumble support via a brand new controller
Information on this mysterious “new controller” is scarce, along with any confirmation as to whether it will come packaged with a standard edition, collector’s edition, or both.
Limited Run Games has asked interested buyers to stay tuned for more announcements.
In the meantime, DOOM fans can check out the recently announced duo pack DOOM + DOOM II and DOOM Anthology for more demon-slaying thrills and gore.
