The creators behind the beautiful reimagining of Link’s Awakening called Link’s Awakening DX HD have been issued a takedown notice by Nintendo. The title featured HD visuals, 120fps scrolling and widescreen support. Additionally, players could also zoom out and see the entire island of Koholint at once. Nintendo is known for protecting its IP and consistently knocks down projects like this. Here’s what the takedown notice says:
“We noticed that the next game, [Link’s Awakening DX HD]offered on Itch.io infringes and misappropriates Nintendo’s copyright in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening video game,” the notice reads.
“Please act expeditiously to remove the download page and information about the infringing game. I have a good faith belief that the material is not authorized by the intellectual property owner, its agent, or the law.”
