Lord of the Rings: Gollum launched the other day on Nintendo Switch and other platforms with little to no fanfare, in fact the biggest buzz around the game came from the fact that it was one of the worst reviewed games of 2023, with an average rating of 36/100 on Metacritic based on 35 reviews. It’s clear that this is an embarrassment to the developer, Daedalic Entertainment, which is why they released a statement on social media saying that they “deeply regret that the game did not live up to the expectations we set for ourselves or our dedicated community” and ask those who purchased the game to “accept our sincere apologies for any disappointment this may have caused.” You can read the full statement from the development team below.
