Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD finally launched this week on the Nintendo Switch to good reviews, and data miners have already been digging through the game’s files to see if there’s anything interesting. One data miner discovered that the Nintendo Switch version of Luigi’s Mansion 2 has the exact same file structure as the Nintendo 3DS version and thus still contains the file for the now-defunct StreetPass. Luigi’s Mansion 2: Dark Moon never even used this feature. Reddit user FierceDeityKong chimed in with more information on the subject here:
“The original game didn’t even have StreetPass, the map containing the exclusive Scarescraper ghosts was named exactly that, probably because that was originally planned. That folder would not be removed as it is still in use in the game.”
