Update [Tue 22nd Mar, 2022 11:30 GMT]: So we’ve had time to dig into the new courses that came with wave 1 of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pass. With extra details added to the tracks – some of which have been entirely revamped visually – there are lots of little nods to Mario’s history, as well as some fun little references.

The most notable of these easter eggs have been spotted in Coconut Mall, the fan-favourite course returning from Mario Kart Wii. In the mall, you can now see banners dotted around some of the courses more-sharp turns. But, as with any shopping complex, the walkways are adorned with a variety of shops, from Kamek’s Book Store to Fire Flower Curry House. Two storefronts in particular, however, might be hinting at the future of the Booster Course Pass. (Thanks, GameXplain!)

As reported last week, Vanilla Lake from Super Mario Kart has already been datamined, but there’s actually a shop and a few posters scattered across the mall for a Vanilla Lake Winter Sports Equipment Store. Seems like it’s all but confirmed, then?

But the second store is the most intriguing – one that wasn’t picked up by the datamine but, like Vanilla Lake, is in Mario Kart Tour. The shop, Dino Dino Outdoor & Camping Goods, is a cute little reference to Dino Dino Jungle from Mario Kart: Double Dash, complete with the course’s signature dinosaur as the store’s logo.

Of course, Mario Kart is no stranger to little nods to its past like this, but it would be weird to put these in here without them showing up later down the line. Only time will tell if we’ll need to pick up some winter sports gear or grab a tent to go camping in a prehistoric jungle!

Original story [Tue 18th Mar, 2022 05:30 GMT]: The first wave of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe‘s Booster Course Pass has arrived, and sure enough – there’s already been a datamine. The latest finding within Version 2.0.0 is an updated banner – showing a bunch of previously unannounced courses.

Fans have been able to narrow down the list of tracks in the banner to the following courses (via ‘MrNantendo‘ on Twitter):

– Sydney Sprint (Tour)
– LA Laps (Tower)
– New York Minute (Tour)
– Koopa Cape (Wii)
– Maple Treeway (Wii)
– Mario Circuit (SNES)
– Vanilla Lake (SNES)
– Rainbow Road (3DS)

That’s not all, though. While we already knew about the Cup names, it seems one individual – known as ‘fishguy6564‘ on Twitter (via ‘OatmealDome‘) – has gone a step further, and made a patch that potentially reveals what Mario Kart game each of the DLC tracks come from. Here’s a look:

Of course, all of this information has been datamined – so there’s no guarantee anything mentioned above will necessarily appear in a future wave of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course DLC.

This new DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will run until the end of 2023 and includes a total of six waves, ten new cups and 48 courses. You can read more in our detailed guide:
