You may recall that last week Nintendo officially announced that the 5th wave of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass will be released on July 12th. Of course, when a new wave of DLC comes out, it usually coincides with an update to the base game.
Well, as promised, Nintendo has released the 5th wave of the Booster Course Pass. The new content also comes with an update to the base game, bringing the game to version 2.4.0. Most of the updates, according to the patch notes, focus on bug fixes and some gameplay tweaks. You can see the full patch notes below.
DLC support
- Now supports paid DLC: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Extra Course PassWave 5 (two cups, eight dishes and three characters).
In general
- Improved performance of some characters and vehicle customizations.
- The invincibility time of some characters has been adjusted.
- Adjusted item randomization method in races where custom items are placed, when there are four players or less.
- Extended range when displaying a warning when a Red Shell or Spiny Shell is approaching from behind.
- Made Red Shell or Spiny Shell warnings to show priority over other warnings.
- Made the warning not show when the red shell targets opponents.
- Made the L/R key controls on the class select screen and track select screen in Grand Prix also perform on the touch screen.
- Reduced the spawn rate of Mirror and 200cc races in world and regional settings.
Solved problems
- Fixed an issue where a communication error would occur when a character catches a boomerang at the same time as Boo brings an item.
- Fixed an issue where the player could not throw an item when equipping an item and catching a boomerang at the same time.
- Fixed an issue where the chart for the Mii Heavy difficulty class parameters did not match the actual abilities.
- Fixed an issue where a warning would not appear when an opponent used Bullet Bill in online matches.
- Made it so that the kart does not spin or crash when it hits an obstacle if the player uses Super Star, Bullet Bill or Boo at the same time.
- Fixed an issue where the kart would get stuck between a cliff and a small mushroom and could not move in Wii Mushroom Gorge.
- Fixed an issue where the player would go off the track when transforming into Bullet Bill right in front of the goal in GBA Riverside Park.
