The Japanese Nintendo site Nintendo Dream recently published information interview with a number of staff working on this year's fun Mario & Luigi: Brotherhood for Nintendo Switch. Mario & Luigi: Brotherhood co-producer Akira Otani was one of those interviewed and revealed that the team had initially settled on the name Mario & Luigi: Wonder, however, that plan naturally changed when Nintendo revealed they were working on Super Mario Bros. Wonder, so the name change was in order.
Otani: Actually, I was going to add Wonder at the beginning. Like “Mario & Luigi RPG Wonder”. But while we were working on it, the first to come out was “Super Mario Bros. Wonder” so we couldn't use it (laughs).
