Following Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, there’s been a lot of discussion about the titles Xbox has released on other platforms, so what’s the latest?
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said Bloomberg this week that he thinks Xbox has a better chance of being a “good publisher” for all platforms (including Nintendo) now that the deal with Activision and Blizzard is closed.
Here’s exactly what he had to say:
Satya Nadella: “We love games. In fact, Microsoft Flight Simulator was born even before Windows. But we were number three, number four. And now with Activision, I think we have a chance to be a good publisher – frankly – for Sony, Nintendo, PC and Xbox.
So, yes, we’re excited about closing that acquisition and I’m glad we were able to do it.”
Microsoft and Xbox have previously mentioned that they will continue to publish certain franchises on competing platforms, including Activision’s Call of Duty series, which has been confirmed for Nintendo and PlayStation platforms for the next 10 years.
Microsoft’s gaming boss Phil Spencer went so far as to mention that he wants Nintendo fans to feel “part of the Xbox community” going forward and “100% part of Call of Duty nation.”
