Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced in his annual letter to shareholders that the company is moving full speed ahead with the Latitude project. Project Latitude is the Redmond-based company’s initiative to bring its first-party Xbox games to competing platforms such as the PlayStation 5 and Switch and its successor. There have been rumors circulating on the internet that the rollout has been paused, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
“We’re bringing great games to more people on more devices. With our acquisition of Activision Blizzard King, which closed in October 2023, we added hundreds of millions of players to our ecosystem. We now have 20 franchises that have generated more than $1 billion in revenue—from Candy Crush, Diablo, and Halo to Warcraft, Elder Scrolls, and Gears of War. And with Xbox Cloud Gaming, we’re continuing to innovate to give players more ways to experience the games they love – where, when and how they want. Finally, we’ve brought four of our favorite titles to Nintendo Switch and Sony PlayStation for the first time, as we continue to expand our content to new platforms.”
