Earlier this year at Minecraft Live 2024, Mojang announced a new creepy biome and mob update for the game.
The 'Garden Awakens Update' has now officially launched – allowing players to explore this creepy new biome, meet the screech and discover the “secrets” of its heart. You'll also gain access to new blocks, hanging moss, and more.
Here are the full patch notes for this Minecraft update, courtesy of the official support page:
The squeaking heart is a “living” block that is created in light oak trees, covered on all sides with light oak logs. It can create a Cracking Mob at night, and is placed between two properly aligned blocks of pale oak logs.
The Creaking mob appears at night in the Pale Garden biome if there is a Creaking Heart block generated on the Pale Oak tree. Game features:
An activated Squeak will not move if the player is looking at it
The squeak is insensitive to damage
When hit, a particle trail is displayed between the Creaking block and the Creaking Heart it is connected to
When the Creaking Heart block that the Creaking is connected to is destroyed, the Creaking is removed
It is not affected by light levels, but spawns and disappears based on the day/night cycle
Squeaky can't get into boats
A squeak caused from a Squeaking Heart cannot pass through portals
The Creaking Spawn Egg will spawn a Creaking mob unrelated to the Creaking Heart. Cracking mobs will persist day and night, load and save, and take damage from attacks and other sources of damage. Has one health point (half a heart)
Creaking summoned from Creaking Heart cannot be spawned with a spawn egg, nor can it be summoned by commands. It can only exist as part of the Creaking Heart block
A player wearing a carved pumpkin on their head can look at Creaking without being frozen in place
When a Squeaking Heart is destroyed, its Heart will twitch for a few seconds before disintegrating
The squeaks created by the Squeaking Heart will disintegrate if you are stuck in a hole with a player for more than 5 seconds
- This prevents a potential soft lock, as an invulnerable Creaking would prevent the player from mining or placing any blocks, requiring them to exit and re-enter the world to make the Creaking disappear
The screeching decay causes nearby Sculk Catalysts to bloom
- However, Sculk will not be placed as Creaking does not drop any XP
The squeaker plays 4 different swinging sounds
The squeak plays new attack sounds
Eyeblossoms are new flowers that spawn in the Pale Garden biome. Unique characteristics:
Ambient sounds in the Pale Garden biome do not come from the biome settings, but are generated by the blocks located in the biome
