As you might have heard, the rain is out of control in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. Not only is it torrential, but it also has some “sorting issues” (as highlighted by Digital Foundry) where things like pools of water are layered in front of rain.
While Switch players will, unfortunately, have to wait for an official patch to be rolled out for the Nintendo Switch version of the game, as reported by Kotaku, modders appear to have come to the rescue on PC, and already making attempts to fix the rain issues (and this is after Rockstar wiped out the existing versions of GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas on the same platform).
These mods are titled with names like “rain fix” and essentially make the rain more transparent – making it much easier to see what you’re doing in each of the game worlds when it is raining. Meanwhile, other modders are stepping in to restore things like missing radio stations.
The owner and CEO of Grove Street Games (the studio behind the latest trilogy release), last week stated how the development team already had updates in the works, so hopefully, a “rain fix” is something that’s on the agenda:
“It’s so fun to see players out there really enjoying what we’ve put together for them. I’m honestly enjoying this unparalleled level of scrutiny on our studio. Today we are celebrating our monumental project launch, while we work on updates.”
