It cannot be denied that the movie Super Mario Bros. was a huge success for both Nintendo and the animation company Illumination. A report from Deadline came out today, revealing that the Super Mario Bros. now tops the top grossing movies of 2023 as the animated film has grossed over half a billion with an estimated profit of around $559 million. Deadline reports that this is now the third animated film to hit the milestone, following Disney’s Frozen 2 and Illumination’s Minions. Movie Super Mario Bros. came close to beating Frozen 2, which earned more than $600 million in 2019. Disney’s Frozen 2 currently holds the record for the highest-grossing animated film of all time.
