My Hero Academia mangaka gives us the answer to why the movies are not canon in his saga

Academia, answer, canon, Hero, mangaka, Movies, SaGa

Kouhei Horikoshi, el mangaka behind My Hero Academiahas always declared himself a great fan of the manga work of Akira Toriyama, as is Dragon Ball. Like many prominent mangakasgrew up influenced by the greatness that exudes Akira’s work.

We can’t blame him, since Dragon Ball has been an incredible reference for thousands of authors around the world. In fact, Dragon Ball It has some films that are not part of the canon as such of the main line of the saga, and something similar happens with My Hero Academia.

According to the My Hero Academia mangaka:

“I used to go to my community center to watch the Dragon Ball movies. Nowadays, series like Kimetsu no Yaiba or Jujutsu Kaisen have movies that adapt important events from the manga. While that’s fine, I personally prefer the original Dragon Ball movies like the ones I enjoyed, with plots exclusive to the feature films. I really appreciate that all of our movies have kept that focus so far.”

With these statements, it is demonstrated that the films we have had Boku no Hero so far, are outside the main canonical line of the franchiseso the stories, events and characters shown in these films are not linked to the main events of the anime.
