2K announced today that pre-orders are open for NBA 2K24, revealing Kobe Bryant as this year’s cover athlete.
The game is set for release September 8with Switch owners getting the option of the standard Kobe Bryant Edition or the bulkier Black Mamba Edition which includes bonuses such as extra VC, various ITEAM packs, ICAREER skill boosts and more.
In addition to the usual game modes, 2K24 adds ‘Mamba Moments’ — a series of tasks where you’ll relive some of Kobe’s most iconic plays on the court in the same way that the Michael Jordan Challenge worked for MJ in 2K23. This was one of our favorite mods last year, so here’s hoping the 2K and visual concepts deliver again.
2K24 also introduces PROPlay which appears to be a way of translating actual NBA footage into 2K24 gameplay. How it will look on Switch — which has a noticeable reduction compared to other platforms — remains to be seen, but we’ll be interested to see it in action after the season ends in October.
The biggest sales this year unfortunately won’t be coming to the Switch as the latest addition of crossplay is limited to next-gen consoles only. Maybe next time, huh?
You can now pre-order a physical copy of the standard edition Kobe Bryant from 2K large for £49.99 which includes the following pre-order bonuses:
- 5000 virtual currency and 5000 ITEAM points
- 10 ITEAM promotional packages (one delivered per week)
- 5x six ICAREER booster types, 3x three Gatorade booster types and 95 rated Kobe Bryant ITEAM Free Agent Cards
2K’s website states that Black Mamba Edition pre-orders are “coming soon,” so keep an eye out if you want to grab even more stuff.
