Publisher Playtonic Friends today revealed a new trailer for its upcoming neon roguelike, Elsie, and it looks like it’s going to be beautiful — ‘beautiful’ in its visuals and ‘quite challenging’ in gameplay.
Developed by Knight Shift Games, Elsie will see you take on the role of the main character in an attempt to save your world from the disasters that have long befallen it. To do this, you’ll have to fight your way through a series of environments, each filled to the brim with dangerous hordes of enemy robots who dispatch each of them with your arsenal of explosive weapons (so far, so roguelike).
While it might not sound like it’s going to transform the genre, the latest trailer from Playtonic shows off some of the game’s biomes and opponents, whose neon pixel art is definitely a sight to behold. For a little more information on some upcoming features, as well as some screenshots, check out the following from the game Steam page:
Features
– An adrenaline-pumping platformer with a unique parry system
– Procedurally generated runs through stages of neon-drenched pixels
– Endless synergies with dozens of weapons, skills and upgrades
– Tons of replayability with hours of content and daily challenges
We don’t have an exact date for when Elsie will be coming to Switch outside of ‘2023’, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted as soon as more details are revealed.
