Yacht Club Games officially premiered a new presentation earlier today, which focused heavily on Shovel Knight to celebrate the franchise’s 10th anniversary. A lot was announced, including an improved version of the original Shovel Knight, but the final reveal announcement was the biggest of all.
Yacht Club Games ended the presentation by announcing that a brand new Shovel Knight game is currently in development. The company says the game is not a sequel, but “a bold new adventure that will launch Shovel Knight into a whole new dimension of gameplay.” It will pay homage to Shovel Knight’s legacy, but also deliver “groundbreaking, innovative gameplay mechanics.”
Ultimately, the game will have “electrified action, richer mechanics and all the timeless charm you expect from a Shovel Knight title.” There is currently no release date, and availability on platforms such as Nintendo Switch is currently unknown. For now, Yacht Club Games recommends that players play the previous games in the franchise as they all have “hidden details” that relate to the new game.
