Believe it or not, Pokemon GO is still alive. In fact, this year will mark 8 years since the game’s original launch, and Niantic is already starting to look towards the game’s 10th anniversary in 2026. Pokémon Go SVP Ed Wu even discussed it in a brand new interview with Eurogamer.
Wu said it was “bananas to think this thing is going to enter its next decade any time soon. Not only is he healthy, but he is also growing. And we’re investing a lot to make sure it’s a great game and has a really solid foundation for the next 10 years. As we prepare for that 10th anniversary, we want a refresh befitting the next decade. Next, we’re refreshing our avatar system with an even better experience, updated assets – a modern system that can offer more customization”.
