Nikkei recently held an interview with Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa. Furukawa spoke on numerous topics in the interview, which have been translated into English by Nintendo All, including cloud games. Furukawa said "it is possible that cloud games will hold public interest 10 years from now, but at this time, I don't think dedicated hardware will go away. It's not long before we really know the outcome".
Furukawa also spoke to Nintendo researching new technologies, saying "what I don't want the public to understand is that we do not oppose our technology – we are constantly researching and developing". Later, he explained that "AR, is certainly one of our favorite features. We are currently researching some fun ways to use it. Finally, Furukawa revealed that his newest release Pokemon Sword and Shield.
