What do you do when you wake up in a world without color? Well, if you’re a resident of Inkopolis, do whatever you can to paint the town pink (or blue or yellow or…). That’s the kind of spirit you’ll need to climb the Tower of Order and embellish your world in the single-player DLC Side Order, the second wave of the game Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass for Splatoon 3 on Nintendo Switch system family, arriving on February 22.
Before you leave your mark on the all-white ruins of this once-bustling city, check out the Preview Trailer released today to familiarize yourself:
In Side Order, you play as Agent 8, a resident of Inkopolis who wakes up in a new “world of order”, where the color spectrum goes from white to … a little less white to … a little gray to … well, that’s about it. What should Octoling do? Figure out how to bring some color back into the picture, that’s it! With a drone claiming to be a member of the Off the Hook Pearl, Agent 8 must fight his way to the top of the Tower of Order against hordes of surprising enemies and obstacles.
There are objectives on each floor of the Tower that change each time you try, and get harder the higher you climb. Objectives can include defeating enemies, securing certain areas for a certain amount of time, and overcoming other skill-testing challenges. Use the color chips you receive to customize your Palette to your liking with enhancements such as increased fire rate, increased damage output, and more. If you don’t make it to the top, you’ll have to start over – but the colored tokens you collect will be converted into currency that can be exchanged for some permanent and useful upgrades. Those upgrades might just give you a chance to make it to the top next time.
Designed to be replayed again and again as you update Agent 8 with powerful (and colorful) abilities, Side Order is a fun, challenging way to level up your Splatoon skills, for newcomers and veterans alike.
And those skills will need to be sharp as the new Splatoon 3 “Fresh Season” launches on March 1st. This season brings with it new multiplayer stages such as the “Marlin Airport” battle stage and the “Bonerattle Arena” Salmon Run stage, new weapons such as brella and dualies variants and additional new items such as the Fizzbang that can be used during Splatfest.
