Since Metroid Prime was also released physically, unfortunately it can’t be considered for this month’s eShop Selects, and other than that, it’s been a surprisingly quiet month, all in all. With that in mind, we’ve thrown a few 7/10 rated games into the mix, breaking our usual rule for the second month in a row.
Still, all of these games are worth checking out, so let’s take a look at them together…
Honorable mentions
To be honest, any of the games featured here could have potentially made it to the top this month, but here’s a look at the highlights that didn’t make the top three:

Interestingly, our top-rated eShop game of the month has to settle for bronze, but we think Fashion Police Squad is definitely worth a look if you’re a shooter fan.
It may not be quite as “edgy” as something like Doom, but with smooth controls, fluid animation, beautiful visuals, and the addition of gyro aiming, it’s still simple, cheerful fun that will keep you entertained for a good four or five hours. Which, given the low asking price, is nothing to scoff at.
We gave Fashion Police Squad an 8/10 in our full review, so check out the full details, cadet!
Publisher: Square Enix / Programmer: FuturLab
There’s something inherently satisfying about the gameplay in PowerWash Simulator. Watching you meticulously remove grime in clean lines can be compared to the countless “SO SATISFYING” YouTube videos that have flooded the internet over the past few years.
Although the game suffers from long loading times and tricky aiming (why no gyro controls??), Powerwash Simulator makes up for it with addictive scenarios and stable performance. Additionally, you can also download Tomb Raider content for free which, while a rather bizarre collaboration in itself, is very welcome regardless.
We gave Powerwash Simulator a 7/10 in our full review, so sit back and check it out.
Publisher: Issue of exchange / Programmer: Case of the game
This month, Blanc, a cute co-op adventure from developer Casus Ludi, comes out on top. While admittedly on the short side (you can easily breeze through this in just two hours), Blanc is a memorable game that not only looks fantastic, but is moving and emotionally devastating in equal measure.
Camera issues and frame rate drops hold Blanc back from true greatness, but with some fun puzzles and meaningful interaction with your co-op buddy, we’d say it’s definitely worth a punt if you’re a fan of It Takes Two and looking for something similar.
We gave Blanc a 7/10 in our review, so be sure to check it out for the full lowdown.
< Nintendo eShop Selects - January
How we decide that our eShop chooses the top three: As we come to the end of each month, the Nintendo Life staff votes on their favorite titles from a list of games selected by the editorial team. To qualify for this list, these games must have been released only as a digital Nintendo Switch eShop title in that particular month and must have been reviewed on Nintendo Life; we select qualifying games based on their ratings.
Staff are then asked to vote for the three games they think deserve to be at the very top of that list; the first choice gets 3 points, the second choice gets 2 points, and the third choice gets 1 point. Those votes are then tallied to create a top three list, with the overall winner claiming that month’s top prize.
