A new survey conducted by Japanese recruitment agency Gakujo reveals that Nintendo is the third most sought-after employer in the region.

This comes by way of Otaku Soken (Thanks, Automaton) and is based on the responses of 5,476 students across Japan. Nintendo is the top company in the entertainment sector, beaten only by trading company Itochu in first place and biotech corporation Ajinomoto in second place.

Certainly, respondents seem to have accepted Nintendo's high prestige and popularity as a video game company, along with its global footprint. It is also known for extremely low staff turnover, which is close to zero, while averages hover around the 30% mark.

Hiroki Okamoto, director of the Japanese employment agency UZUZ, presented the following explanation for Nintendo's high position:

“Of course, Nintendo's comprehensive strengths play a role in this. They have a high rate of paid vacation usage, offer strong parenting support, and have a unique employee points system that can be used for games, books, travel, and more. They also have a deep understanding of diversity and have introduced a partnership system that allows employees with same-sex partners to be treated as married, among other progressive and practical initiatives.”

Other video game companies in the top 50 include Konami, Capcom, Bandai Namco and Sega. Kadokawa Corporation, which recently found itself in the news following reports of a potential acquisition by Sony, also placed high in eighth place.
