Nintendo has issued multiple DMCA takedowns targeting mods hosted on the popular community website GameBanana. According to member ‘Waikuter’, over 60 DMCA takedowns were issued within days, with 40 targeting their mods. This wave of removals left Waikuteru’s GameBanana profile without any mod submissions. Targeted mods include a variety of custom content for popular Nintendo titles. Notably, changes to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, such as the randomizer and custom maps such as Lon Lon Ranch and Skyview Temple, are affected. Additionally, mods for Super Smash Bros. The Ultimates were also targeted. When visiting the mod pages in question, users are now met with a message that the content has been removed due to a verifiable DMCA takedown request.
Waikuteru expressed interest in issuing a counter-notice, citing doubts about the authenticity of the removal. If the removals are true, Nintendo would have 14 days to respond. Meanwhile, Waikuteru uploaded the Zelda mods in question on MEGA.
