Brace yourself, it’s August, the end of summer is coming, and we’re here to talk about video games of the past. Yes, it’s time to look back on the past month and talk about July’s eShop Selects.

Nintendo had another fairly quiet month on Switch — Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition was a big one, with the long-awaited Switch port of Ace Combat 7 proving to be a superb re-release. But the eShop is booming, as usual. That’s what we’re focusing on for eShop Selects, and as usual, our staff and contributors vote on their top three eShop games from the list of games we’ve reviewed, and we give you the winners (and the best of the rest).

Before we jump into July, let’s celebrate Moonstone Island’s win for June! The game won the NL Readers’ Choice for games we didn’t review. And, well, we have a pretty good reason not to review this one; former Nintendo Life staffer and current contributor Kate Gray writes about the game! Great choice, we think.
