Nintendo Life eShop Selects & Readers’ Choice (October 2024)

This is our second PS1-inspired horror game, and it’s one we’ve been begging to see on Switch earlier this year. Inspired by PlayStation classics Resident Evil and Final Fantasy VII (no, you didn’t misread), Crow Country uses the polygonal visuals and angled camera perspective to its advantage. It’s not clunky and feels fresh, even amidst the wave of retro horror games coming out.

We rated Crow Country 8/10 and loved wandering around this dilapidated theme park.

Nomada Studio set the bar extremely high with its debut title, GRIS, and its second game, Neva, Nomada has firmly established itself as one of the best developers in the world. Amplifying almost everything from GRIS, Neva tugs at your heartstrings with beautiful visuals, stunning music, and fantastic combat and platforming. Few words, but always powerful.

Neva can take pride of place as our October eShop Selects winner, but if you want to know more about why she topped our vote, check out our 9/10 review.

eShop chooses a reader’s choice vote (October 2024)

October was crazy packed with game releases and we’re sure some slipped through the cracks. Note, we’re working on reviews for Clock Tower and the STALKER Trilogy, so we’ve counted them for now.

Otherwise, if you’re desperate to tell us about a game we missed that deserved to be at the top this month, vote in our poll below and let us know.

Plus, choose your favorite game from our picks.

How we decide that our eShop chooses the top three: As we come to the end of each month, the Nintendo Life staff votes on their favorite titles from a list of games selected by the editorial team. To qualify for this list, these games must only be released as a digital Nintendo Switch eShop title in that particular month and must be reviewed on Nintendo Life; we select qualifying games based on their ratings.

Staff are then asked to vote for the three games they think deserve to be at the very top of that list; the first choice gets three points, the second choice gets two points, and the third choice gets one point. Those votes are then tallied to create a top three list, with the overall winner claiming that month’s top prize.
