So, officially, E3 2020 has been officially canceled due to "growing and alarming" concerns about the COVID-19 virus.
Most third-party publishers like Ubisoft have released statements, now it's Nintendo's turn. Here is the answer provided by GameSpot by a Nintendo speaker:
Nintendo supports ESA's decision to cancel this year's E3 to help protect the health and safety of everyone in our industry – our fans, our employees, our viewers and our long-term E3 partners. We would like to voice our concerns and the support of all those involved in the COVID-19 outbreak during this challenging time.
We will continue to evolve and redirect our efforts to other ways to keep our fans up to date with our products and services. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, major industry events may not be foreseen for the foreseeable future. But we look for different ways to engage with our fans and we will have more to share as the year goes on.
While Nintendo used to have an E3 showroom, for several years now it hosted online video presentations. While the expo cancellation may not affect the company's online streaming schedule, there is no guarantee that we will host a Treehouse event this year.
The good news is that Nintendo says it will "continue to evolve", will consider various ways to "engage" with fans, and will share more as the year goes on. It sounds like it will be as usual. We might also get two presentations before the end of this month if rumors yesterday something will pass.
