Something that Nintendo hasn’t really talked about much is artificial intelligence, specifically generative artificial intelligence. However, that is no longer the case and the company behind the Switch has now spoken out about it for the first time. You see, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa recently spoke to investors in a Q&A where he was asked about this.
Furukawa said that “in the game industry, AI-like technology has long been used to control the movement of enemy characters, so game development and AI technology have always been closely related. Generative artificial intelligence, which has been a hot topic in recent years, may be more creative, but we also recognize that it has intellectual property rights issues. Our company has decades of knowledge and experience in creating the optimal gaming experience for our customers. While we are flexible in responding to technological developments, we hope to continue to deliver value that is unique to us and cannot be created through technology alone.”
