News broke that Nintendo engaged in a big spending spree for its R&D department during the fiscal year ending in March 2024. As you can see in the handy chart below, the company spent nearly ¥138 billion, roughly $910 million in that period. A significant amount of money is likely to be used for the company’s successor to the popular Switch console, which the Kyoto-based company is expected to reveal before March 2025. Nintendo anticipates another increase for the current fiscal year.
