It’s been almost 4 months since Nintendo updated the Nintendo Switch firmware. Obviously, the holiday season played a role in this. However, another reason is that Nintendo technically released some sort of update during that 4-month period, thanks to the no-reboot update that launched in mid-December.
However, Nintendo decided to release a firmware update tonight. After the update, your console’s firmware should be at version 16.0.0. As for the patch notes, you might be surprised to hear that they don’t actually have much. However, you can see them in full below.
- Usernames that cannot be used will be replaced with “???” which can be updated from the profile settings.
- General system stability improvements to improve user experience.
